So what date is Honey Spas celebrated? According to the church calendar, the Honey Savior is a non-transferable holiday, since every year it falls on the same date - August 14th. In addition, the two-week Assumption Fast, which is considered one of the strictest fasts, originates on Honey Spas. The history of the holiday goes back to the era of Prince Vladimir the Great - as ancient manuscripts say, on this day the baptist of all Rus' converted to Christianity.
Also on the Honey Savior, the temples commemorate the brothers Maccabees, their mother Solomia and the teacher Eleazar, who were martyred for the Christian faith - from the Syrian king Antiochus. Despite all the horrendous torture, the king was still unable to force the followers of the True God to renounce their beliefs. After the death of the brothers Maccabees, their mother and teacher were canonized as holy martyrs.

According to tradition, on this day, the first honeycombs cut in the hives are consecrated in the church, and then children and the poor are treated with honey. Delicious dishes and drinks are prepared from this sweet and healthy product - it was believed that honey eaten on the Savior would give health and longevity. So, Easter cakes, pies, cereals, pancakes, rolls, cakes and other dishes with honey are prepared on Honey Spas, which are served to guests at the festive table. Together with honey, on this day it is customary to bring water and poppy seeds to the church for consecration - the use of these products also contributes to strengthening health and adding vitality.
From time immemorial, there was a tradition of bathing in reservoirs and rivers on Honey Spas as a means of getting rid of various ailments and sinful thoughts. On this holiday, the girls collected bouquets of thyme, calendula, mint and several poppy heads. According to tradition, such a bouquet (“poppy flower”) after consecration in the church becomes a home amulet from troubles and adversities.
